This article covers what a metric card shows in grid view and what you can do with a metric. For the toolbar, searching and filtering, and the list view, see Browse and Filter the Metric Catalog.
Metrics Studio is the catalog of financial metric definitions for the tenant. It is a separate surface from the SmartResearch workspace, reached from the same rail entry, and it is where the organization agrees what a number means.
Open Metrics Studio
In the navigation rail, select SmartResearch.
Select Metrics Studio.
The page opens on Financial Metrics with a count of the metrics defined.

Metric actions
Everything you do to an existing metric starts from its card, whether you are reusing its formula, changing it, or removing it.
Table 2. Metric actions
Action |
What it does |
|---|---|
Copy formula |
Copies the formula from the card. |
Validate & Edit |
Opens the metric to review or change it. |
Delete |
Removes the metric. Each card carries its own delete control. |
Add Metrics |
Defines a new metric. |
The formula is printed on the card rather than hidden behind an edit screen. When two reports disagree, comparing formulas here is usually faster than tracing the data.
What a metric can and cannot define
Each row pairs something the catalog lets you do with a limit it holds you to.
Table 3. Scope of the catalog
You can |
You cannot |
|---|---|
Define AP and AR metrics with a formula, description and domain tag. |
Define a metric over data the tenant has not connected. |
Mark a metric as validated so that answers can cite it. |
Change what a validated metric means without editing and re-validating it. |
Delete a metric you no longer use. |
Recover a deleted metric from this page. |
